Acton
Living in Acton
Acton is a town and area in west London, England, within the London Borough of Ealing. It is 6.1 miles (10 km) west of Charing Cross. The leafy residential streets are ready and ripe for the kind of image boost that is rapidly revitalising London’s suburbs, straddling zones two and three and strategically positioned between Ealing and Chiswick. When pubs become “gastro” and shopping malls apply for planning permission, it’s a sure sign that young families and corporate professionals have fallen in love with a neighbourhood, and Acton fits the bill for a variety of reasons.
Overground train lines abound in this west London suburb, making Heathrow Airport and the West End equally accessible. There is also the Silverlink line, which runs in a convenient arc through the suburbs from Stratford in the east to Richmond in the west, terminating at Acton Central station. The Central and Piccadilly lines serve East Acton and Acton Town stations, respectively, and provide vital Tube connections to the city centre and beyond. However, the Crossrail initiative is about to give this already impressive infrastructure a massive boost. This ultra-fast route will transport Londoners from Heathrow and the Thames Valley all the way to Stratford, Docklands, and the coast, with Acton Mainline serving as an important stop along the way, making renting in Acton an extremely appealing commuter option.

About Acton
About Acton
A collection of streets named after famous poets can be found near Acton Town Tube station. Shakespeare, Chaucer, Cowper, Milton, and Goldsmith roads have the tranquil atmosphere that their names suggest, and they, along with the quirky independent retail parade of Churchfield Road, contribute to the area’s village-like atmosphere. Twyford Avenue is home to many magnificent examples of Edwardian architecture, and renting here would undoubtedly be more affordable than in most west London suburbs. Mount Park’s conservation area is close to Acton High Street, which features the charming St Mary’s church and its distinctive bell tower. Walpole Park is another elegant neighbour, but for those looking for even more greenery, there is Ealing Common, a vast expanse of greenery that is ideal for picnics and recreation.
